Consultancy Work
The World Investment Report (WIR) is the flagship publication of UNCTAD's Division on Investment and Enterprise. It's a report prepared by a large editorial and production team, consisting of 45-50 people.
The report supports policymakers by monitoring global and regional foreign direct investment (FDI) trends, as well as documenting national and international policy developments.
This 240+ page publication contains over 60 graphics of complex data, 80 detailed tables and 8 maps of each economic region providing visual FDI representation.
Not only was this report challenging as the layout and production had to be done in three months, but it's development began in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, which meant the whole initial content had to change at the last minute.
On the other hand, it was an opportunity to work remotely, and to use effectively communication platforms (Microsoft Teams) with colleagues with whom I didn't have the opportunity to physically meet.

My consultancy work consisted of giving expertise on how to update over 100 artworks produced throughout UNHCR's history. Some had to be redone from scratch like this document, which was created initially in QuarkXpress 3.3.

The UNHCR has numerous conventions and regulations which define the organisation's mandate.
Plain text gets boring to read when it's not laid out properly as per agreed design conventions. The challenge was also a small budget, which meant only 2 spot-colours could be used. But this restriction is what gives an elegance to this document.
